Anthropic claim new Claude 3 AI chatbot outperforms ChatGPT and Gemini

Published:

In the fast-paced world of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, Anthropic has introduced Claude 3, a new chatbot that claims to rival top competitors like ChatGPT and Google Gemini.

Anthropic, amidst tough competition from industry giants such as OpenAI, Google, and Microsoft, aims to make a mark with its innovative approach in AI development.

The company recently unveiled Claude 3, boasting of achieving levels of sophistication approaching human-like interactions in certain tests and demonstrating competitive performance against established benchmarks such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini.

In a recent blog post released on Monday (Feb. 4), Anthropic detailed its large language model (LLM) – Claude 3, consisting of three model levels: Claude 3 Haiku, Claude 3 Sonnet, and Claude 3 Opus, drawing parallels to Gemini.

All versions of Claude 3 are designed to handle live customer chats, auto-completions, and real-time data extraction tasks, with variations in power and functionality.

Haiku, the smallest variant, is highlighted as a fast and cost-effective solution that can swiftly analyze research papers complete with charts and graphs in under three seconds.

Sonnet powers the Claude.ai chatbot and is available for free with an email sign-up, while Opus, the most robust LLM in the lineup, comes with a $20 monthly subscription to the ‘Claude Pro’ service and features multi-modal capabilities, accommodating both text and image inputs.

Comparing Claude 3 with Other Models

Anthropic, formed by ex-OpenAI professionals, lauds Claude’s performance, particularly highlighting Opus’s superior graduate-level reasoning over GPT-4, outperforming its competitor by 14.7% in tests involving mathematics, coding, and general knowledge. Notably, this latest generation LLM from the Amazon-supported company surpasses its predecessors:

“Sonnet demonstrates a 2x speed improvement over Claude 2 and Claude 2.1 with enhanced intelligence levels, excelling in tasks requiring quick responses like knowledge retrieval or sales automation. Opus matches the speed of Claude 2 and 2.1 but with significantly heightened intelligence levels.”

Anthropic revealed that Claude 3 was trained using a mix of publicly available and proprietary data, leveraging hardware from Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud technology.
